Ever cried silently?
So silent your heart can't heart it,
I guess you never did,
Cos you've never been accused,
Of something you never did.
Ever wished you never went somewhere,
Cos tragedy greeted you at every corner?
Ever stayed awake in night,
Afraid of what the morning will bring?
Ever went hunting with people you call yours,
Only to turn and their guns are on you?
Ever wondered what you did wrong by being born,
When every heartbeat is really painful?
Well,
I guess you never did,
Cos you've never been falsely accused.

SILENT CRY

AN ANGEL
Dedicated to my Mom
Tell me a better angel in the air,
Than one who cared for me every day,
Never slept but watch my sleeping face,
As if a fugly like I can win a beauty race,
To her I’m a beauteous being,
Always protects me with a face so mean,
And if she had to pick on me a cane,
I will feel in her heart as it ache.
I will never exchange her with any silver,
Even I’m to part with my entire liver,
For nothing can pay for the pain she felt,
As she prepared me for an ample birth.
Sorry for all the pains you took,
Just to see me with a cheerful look,
I will see like you no other,
For you are really a mother.
CHANGE
After the winds of change,
That changed everything,
One thing remained untouched,
The venom: pulsating in ma vein,
Setting my breath on a time bomb.
If everyone should forget,
The ugly taste of tragedy,
Then I be a fool to follow,
For a rattle snake thought me otherwise,
When it kissed my foolish lips.
I might not care much,
Other than food with shelter,
But I still need a doctor,
For everyone need a quite life,
Not punished by regret.
CUPID ARROW
They say’d never believe in cupid’s arrow,
But I guess I never believed them too,
Until I learnt through fire and brimstone,
That cupid is just but a myth.
At first sight I thought I was struck by the godly arrow,
But I never knew a godly being could be so cruel,
As to poison a cheese before a rat,
Then I guessed:
things you can’t explain.
Will a dog save you from a hungry lion?
When you stepped on it to hug the lion,
Knowing his life depends on it,
It can only happen in your dream.
I think I have watched too many movies,
To have believed Romeo and Juliet was real,
But now I know a dead man wrote it,
Just to entertain those who never died.
Fate has pushed me to the edge,
Sorry I can’t hold on longer,
Not when the heat is much,
And no one is holding my hand.

LOVE
LOVE
What a dumb fool I was?
To believe love is a playground,
When in truth it’s a war ground,
Where missiles are dropped with a mighty toss.
I took a grenade for a sucking toy,
Until it exploded in my tender lips,
But then I was I tender boy,
Hardly takes from people helping tips.
Tell me what will take me to the playground,
Where every toy is a deadly weapon,
Where a land mine once took out my heart,
And made me a walking dead.
They say a broken heart can heal,
But they never talked about the dead one,
I think I’ll just walk away,
Hoping to get a transplant someday.
THE DIAMOND
THE DIAMOND
Dedicated to Chidimma
I was told' mango tree never drops an apple fruit,
That diamonds lay buried deep,
I guessed I wasn’t told the truth,
Or they never tried a lengthy peep.
Can I just say I’m a lucky man?
To have found a comely friend,
Where others see just another human,
In a world where refined friends hardly trend.
Never believed in miracle,
But that’s to tell I was a fool,
Until I saw a diamond shinning in a vehicle,
Snappishly dressed with a shoe.
It took a thunderous heart beat to say hi.
Be assured I’m not a hungry child,
Who is always after the tasty pie,
But I’ll hold on even in a stormy tide.
